This ancient Benedictine abbey, today transformed into a receptive activity, was founded by Count Roger in the year 1100 "in the extreme offshoot of the fiefs of Guglielmo de Gratterio"; it is therefore one of the most ancient abbeys of the Madonie.
It was located in the territory of the fief of Gratteri.
It was a prestigious and flourishing abbey, and it was also well known for that time.
It was in a state of decadence in the 16th century; in 1743 was restored.
It was definitively abandoned by the Benedictines only in 1851, due to a terrible storm that made it unusable.
It was then used as a farm and only in recent years has been restored.
Still you can admire various buildings, the walls of the church and its remains, including the original portal, and a courtyard of considerable size.
