This bastion was probably built in the first decade of the 16th century to improve the defense of the southern walls of the town.
Porta Marina has been instead demolished in the late 60s.
During the restoration in 1994, inside the bastion has been discovered the medieval door of the Federician period, characterized by a fine pointed arch with five corbels with figures of gorgonic character.
