The house in which this small museum has been set up is an excellent example of a nineteenth-century family house of fishermen.
Based on the elements of Verga's novel, one might consider it to be the "Casa del Nespolo" described by Giovanni Verga in his novel "I Malavoglia".
Through a beautiful arch made of lava stone, it is possible to access a small garden with a medlar tree.
The museum consists of two rooms; one is dedicated to the movie by Luchino Visconti "La terra trema" and houses photographs and posters that repropose the novel in a movie version.
This movie was shot in Acitrezza in 1947, choosing the inhabitants of the place as actors.
The second room houses a collection of furniture and typical tools of the daily life of a family of fishermen in the nineteenth century.
The rooms still have the original nineteenth-century Sicilian terracotta flooring, and the one dedicated to the film "La terra trema" still retains the original ceiling.
It is worth visiting this small museum to take a quick leap in time! The museum is open every day from 9:30 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00.
The admission ticket costs 1.50 euros.
