"One night in June I fell like a firefly under a big solitary pine tree in a campaign of saracen olive trees facing the edges of a plateau of blue clays on the African sea ..".
With these words Luigi Pirandello tells us about his birth in a solitary house, in the middle of the countryside of a place called Kaos.
That house is still preserved today with the simplicity and charm that the writer describes to us.
The first floor, the only one that can be visited, houses a museum with a collection of manuscripts, posters, portraits and personal effects of the great dramatist, all accompanied by the projection of an audiovisual film that traces the main stages of his life.
The visit to the house of Pirandello, declared a National Monument in 1949, reveals to us the inspiring source of his writings that is found in the rooms dear to him, in the quiet atmosphere and in suggestive places such as the marvelous panorama overlooking the Mediterranean or the path near the house that leads to the hundred-year-old pine, a place where Pirandello loved to linger and at whose feet today there are, by his own will, his ashes: ...
"that my ashes are walled in a rough stone in the Girgenti countryside where I was born".
Today we discover...
