This castle was built, together with the houses of the village, from 1494 to 1496 by Guglielmo Raimondo del Castello.
It remained for several generations to the Castello family.
By female line he arrived in Orazio Paternò in 1578, which by clause had to take on the surname of Castello as well as the family crest.
The castle belonged to the family for many generations.
In 1623 Agatino Paternò Castello obtained the title of prince.
Over the next three centuries, the castle has undergone various modifications and extensions that have changed its appearance.
In the second half of the twentieth century the castle remained almost totally abandoned, and was purchased and restored by the municipality, so today is presented in all its original splendor.
