Only ruins remain today of the castle of the Ventimiglia, in Geraci siculo.
It still show the power that in the past had this manor.
It is located on a massive sandstone rock.
Built in the Greek-Byzantine style, it was enlarged by the Arabs; the Normans transformed it for military purposes, but during the Aragonese period it became a real military fortress: the castle was well built to withstand the assaults for a long time.
On the ground floor there were the stables, the kitchens, the arms rooms and the loopholes, while the upper floor was used as a residence.
Inside the walls the Palatine Chapel dedicated to Sant'Anna is intact.
It hosts a painting of the Nativity of Mary.
Every year, a party that begins July 26 and ends September 8, celebrates pregnant women.
