720 meters above sea level, the Gibellini Castle has Arab-Norman origins.
Its present look, however, is from the thirteenth century, thanks to works by the Chiaramonte.
His lords over the centuries were, among others, Bernardo de Puigvert, Guglielmo Raimondo Moncada, Filippo de Marino, Maria de Marinis, Giulio Giardina Grimaldi, Diego Giardina Naselli.
The castle has a rectangular plant 29.40 by 18.70 meters, and is devoid of towers.
Its walls are about two meters thick.
The ground floor has two levels; in the lower level is the main entrance.
On the upper floor there are falling walls, a window with side seats in white stone and two slits.
From the castle you can enjoy a panorama that ranges from Etna to the Ragusa hills.
The main parts of the castle remain preserved, but restoration work has not been carried out for a long time, so the state of conservation is not good, and is currently not used at all.
