Nicosia is dominated by the suggestive view of the Santissimo Salvatore (Holy Savior) church, solitary located on a high cliff.
It was built in the 12th century; collapsed in 1607 and was rebuilt.
About the thirteenth-century church only a tower remains, crowned with protruding corbels, on which a further floor with bells was added.
The facade is very simple, the west side has instead an elegant portico with coupled columns, from which you can admire an enchanting view of Nicosia.
Inside it houses some noteworthy works, including a beautiful wooden choir by 1700 and a stone baptismal font by 1617, placed on a canopy in gilded wood and with drawings of the sixteenth century.
The main feature of this church are the sundials placed outside, and above all, engraved on the angular rocks, the calendar of the swallows, used to indicate every year the arrival of the swallows, continuously engraved for about a century.
