The church of Sant'Antonio Abate was built in 1330 near the homonymous Porta di Sant'Antonio.
It has styles from different eras, such as the Sicilian gothic portal and the baroque bell tower, up to the Byzantine art, which is located in the south facade.
The church was almost completely destroyed by the Anglo-American bombing of July 9, 1943, but was immediately rebuilt with the same ashes recovered from the rubble.
Inside, since 1953, a beautiful permanent nativity scene has been set up by Dionisio Cacopardo.
In it many monuments of Taormina are reproduced in scale.
