The church of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria was built in the late 15th century.
The facade is very simple.
It has a beautiful portal surmounted by a bas-relief depicting Saint Catherine surrounded by angels.
Inside there are precious frescoes, attributed to the Graffeo brothers, depicting stories of the life of the Saint and accompanied by comments in the Sicilian language of that time, which is not very different from that spoken at present.
The frescoes show a glimpse of popular life in Renaissance Sicily.
The captions represent the most extensive non-paper literary text of all Italian linguistic heritage.
