This hermitage is characterized by a well-blended architectural style with the surrounding environment.
It was built in 1624 near the cave where St Rosalia retired in prayer for a long time.
Today, inside the hermitage you can visit the mill, the granary, the shoe shop, the carpentry, the kitchens, as well as the friars' cells, the crypt and to the Sanctuary.
In the eighteenth century it was one of the most renowned hermitages in all of Sicily: it was visited by bishops, princes and cardinals and was the object of their donations.
The Hermitage hosted a hundred friars, who remained there until 1928.
The cave in which Santa Rosalia prayed is difficult to access; it is a dark and humid place.
You can access the corner where Santa Rosalia retreated only by bowing.
The Hermitage is open on Sundays and holidays from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 17:00.
