The San Giacomo lighthouse was built in 1895 by Antonino Davanteri.
It is 40 meters high and its light is visible for 21 nautical miles, corresponding to about 38 km.
It is a point of reference for the boats that run through the Mediterranean.
The name derives from the castle of the same name that stood in that area; this castle was among the most important in Sicily and that was destroyed between 1870 and 1929 to build the commercial port.
The lighthouse is open to public visits and you enjoy beautiful views of the sea and Licata.
To visit it is necessary to make reservations at the port authority or at the tourist info point of XXIV Maggio street.
