Filippo Bentivegna is one of the most emblematic figures in the history of Sciacca.
He is known for the creation of the so-called "Enchanted Castle".
He was born in May 3, 1888 and emigrated to the United States in 1913 because of the poor economic conditions.
There he was not well and was marginalized.
His life changed radically one day when he was brutally beaten up, probably due to a loving jealousy.
The severe trauma caused by the beating caused him psychic alterations.
He was declared unfit for work abd was repatriated, so returned to Sciacca in 1919.
He lived isolated in a farm that he had bought with US earnings, and for over 50 years he realized the enchanted castle until his death.
March 1, 1967.
The myriad faces that made up his enchanted castle, in the imagination of Bentivegna, in the meantime named "Filippu di li testi" or also "Il pazzo di Sciacca", represented the subjects of the kingdom he had created and of which was considered the gentleman.
Some heads sculpted by Bentivegna are now at the Museum of Art Brut in Lausanne.
