The Saturn fountain was built in 1342 by the Chiaramonte, lords of the town, to remember the first aqueduct that brought water inside the walls.
The statue of Saturn, the mythical founder of Trapani, was inserted only in the eighteenth century, while the pilasters, steps and the railing were added in the nineteenth century.
