The Penna furnace was built between 1909 and 1912 by the engineer Ignazio Emmolo on behalf of Baron Guglielmo Penna, and it was an excellent brick factory.
When it was built it was one of the most advanced factories of the time.
Much of its production was exported to Libya and other Mediterranean countries and employed a hundred young man.
During the night of January 26, 1924 it suffered an arson that completely destroyed it - an unpunished gesture - and only ruins remain since then and no renovation or enhancement work has been carried out, although, due to the charm of the ruins themselves, it has been more times chosen as a film set for the highly successful fiction "Il Commissario Montalbano", associating it with the "Mannara" of the novel.
Today we discover...
A castle screaming the desire for rebirth
