Beautiful and evocative place, the Foro Italico is one of the promenade of Palermo.
It has different Mediterranean plants, bike path, benches, sculptures.
It was built in 1582 by the will of the viceroy Marco Antonio Colonna.
After several enlargements and modifications, assumed the name of "Foro Borbonico".
The name changed after the annexation to the Kingdom of Italy.
After the heavy destruction caused by the bombing of Palermo in 1943, both by German and Anglo-American, it was decided to fill with the tons of debris the stretch of sea facing the Foro Italico, moving away the coastline.
From the Foro Italico you can enjoy a beautiful view of the entire Gulf of Palermo.
