Between the Dioscuri and the Vulcano temples there is a wide depression that houses a historical, naturalistic and landscape heritage of great importance: the Kolymbetra garden.
This heavenly place includes 5 hectares full of vegetation.
For 5 years it was elected among the 10 finalists of the contest "Most beautiful parks in Italy".
In ancient times the Kolymbetra was a gigantic fish nursery, built in 79 BC.
Here the waters of an aqueduct of the 5th century BC were poured in.
The aqueduct system used a series of hypogea that have been rediscovered and are still the only ones that can be visited in the Valley of the Temples and are used for the irrigation of the very rich and admirable agricultural variety of this garden.
