The writer Luigi Capuana was born in Mineo on 28 May 1839; journalist and literary critic among the most eminent of his period and among the most important exponents of Verism.
Among his best writings there are the novellas inspired by Sicilian life and fairy tales.
His novel "Giacinta" is considered the manifesto of Italian Verism.
Among the most famous writings: "The Marquis of Roccaverdina" and "Giacinta".
He taught lexicography and stylistics at the University of Catania, and there he died on 29 November 1915.
The tomb of Luigi Capuana is located in the Mineo cemetery.
