Luigi Pirandello is one of the greatest dramatists of the twentieth century.
He was born in Girgenti, former name of Agrigento, on 28 June 1867.
His first big hit was the novel "Il fu Mattia Pascal"; other hits are his theatrical works, as "Il cappero a sonagli".
"So it is (if you like)" and "Six characters in search of an author" were represented and appreciated in all the greatest theaters in the world, and they are today.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1934.
His way of thinking the play was revolutionary.
Core of his narratives were his theories on humor, the crisis of self and madness.
The characters in his novels were emblematic, such as "One, none, one hundred thousand".
Also very popular are the Little Novels, including some very famous as "La Giara".
Pirandello died in Rome on December 10, 1936.
His ashes are set in a rock in the garden of his birthplace near Agrigento.
