Thanks to the great passion for the shells of architect Franco Marescotti, a professor at the University of Catania died in 1991, this magnificent collection exists in Valverde.
With a ticket of two euros it is possible to admire the three rooms of Villa Cosentino used to accommodate different species of shells, madrepores, corals, starfish, turtles, puffers and other specimens belonging to the marine environment from all the world.
The museum is open to the public every day, including Sundays, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Reservations are required for organized groups and school visits, which will guarantee the presence of a guide.
However, visiting the museum with the help of a guide is the best way to get to know the world of shells and the underwater treasures of the sea.
