An amazing historical building.
It is a shame not to be able to access to walk on this bridge and cross it from one bank to another.
It seems that you can still see the wagons that have used this bridge for two hundred years to go from one bank to the other of the Fosso San Leonardo.
It was built in 1721 by the architect Agatino Daidone, and in the first half of the twentieth century it was included in the list of the twelve most beautiful bridges in the world by a specialized magazine.
It is made of sandstone; it consist of a large round arch and a small lateral arch, humpbacked and with two lateral access ramps, perpendicular to the axis of the bridge itself.
It has a carved high relief which portrays a sleeping human figure with the inscription "Secura quiete".
For some decades the bridge has unfortunately been abandoned, and the various initiatives by the population to guarantee the conservation of the bridge have not yet guaranteed the desired success.
