Porta Sant'Antonio di Taormina was unfortunately destroyed on 9 July 1943 by the US attacks, which seriously damaged numerous palaces and monuments of Taormina.
Today only traces of one of the walls remain.
The door opened in a first order of walls outside the medieval village.
It had a tower-shaped structure typical of the period, with two access doors that, in case of danger, could be barred.
