This sanctuary of the 6th century BC, has returned to light following the excavations of 1927.
It is dedicated to the chthonic divinities: Demeter and Persephone, mother and daughter, venerated throughout Sicily.
It is composed of three terraces.
From the first terrace began the ritual with the meeting of the faithful in a special room; in the second were celebrated sacrifices of animals; the last terrace was dedicated to dancing, singing and offering small objects.
The sanctuary consisted of various buildings: eight altars, two enclosures, three sacellums, subterranean cells and four temples, two of which remained unfinished.
