Near the area of the ruins of the medieval village of Gioiosa Guardia, adjacent to the ruins of a monastic complex, there are the archaeological excavations of a Greek city dating back to the 5th century BC.
It seems to be Stitos or Aghatimon.
Just a small part of it has been brought to light and there aren't still no detailed studies on it.
The peculiarity of this Greek city is the altitude, in fact the Greeks usually built their own cities at sea level, or at most at 200-300 meters altitude, but this is unusually at 800 meters.
