Built on a project by Carlo Sada, this beautiful theatehas a perfect acoustic.
It is named after the Catania "Swan" Vincenzo Bellini.
Was inaugurated on 31 May 1890.
It is one of the symbolic places of Catania.
Its main facade is in neo-baroque style.
His stage featured many of the greatest artists of the twentieth century, as Maria Callas, Renata Tebaldi, Luciano Pavarotti, Beniamino Gigli, Giuseppe Di Stefano and Mario Del Monaco, Riccardo Muti, Giuseppe Sinopoli and Franco Zeffirelli, Luchino Visconti and Giorgio Strehler too.
All the major masterpieces of the musical repertoire has been represented.
Its hall has 1200 seats and has four orders of boxes over the gallery.
It's one of the most beautiful among those built in the nineteenth century in Italy.
Every year it hosts a symphonic season and a lyric season, and its orchestra is often called to perform in different parts of the world.
