The Indirizzo Baths, together with the Rotonda Baths and the Achilliane Baths, are among the main testimonies of Roman Catania.
Today are part of the Greco-Roman Archaeological Park of Catania.
They date back to the 2nd century AD; the name is due to the fact that they are partially incorporated in the former convent of Santa Maria dell'Indirizzo.
In the ancient thermal building there are about ten rooms enclosed by original covers; some steps lead to two rectangular rooms connected to each other; from them it is possible to reach a complex of rooms located at a lower level.
Among the various rooms, the largest, which shows some openings of rectangular shape, has an octagonal shape and is domed.
There are the calidarium and the frigidarium, and all the channels for water supply, as well as those for the drainage, remains of furnaces that were used for the heating.
The walls are made of cement mortar and a coating of squared blocks of lava stone.
With free admission, the Indirizzo Bath can be visited by appointment.
