Built in 1302, the Torre del Vescovo occupies the north-western boundary of the Montevergine hill, the ancient acropolis of Catania.
It acquired this name when the bishop of Catania, Antonio de' Vulpone, bought it.
The current building is sixteenth century, with a quadrangular plan, and made of lava stone and mortar.
