Founded in 1995 on the initiative of the stationmaster Primo David, the Museum Train of Villarosa is a very characteristic museum of mining and peasant civilization.
It is full of educational contents.
One of its most important peculiarities is that eight of its wagons were used during the Second World War to transport Jews to the concentration camps.
Exactely they traveled from Rome to Trieste, arriving in the San Sabba camp of concentration.
The museum train also shows through rare photographs, the toil of the miners who worked in the sulfur mines near Enna and Caltanissetta.
One wagon is dedicated to railway memory.
Visits are possible from 09:30 to 12:30 and from 16:30 to 19:30.
Closed on Mondays.
